Ever wondered how you install a kitchen extractor fan when the cooker is on an internal wall? We love a good challenge, and this job was a perfect example!

In a terraced house, you can't just drill straight out. And putting the fan on the opposite wall? It works, but it's "definitely not very efficient" for catching steam and smells.

So, we came up with a plan. The only way was UP!

Watch as we tackle this tricky cooker hood installation, which involves:

Safely working around an existing gas pipe.

Carefully planning a route up through the ceiling.

Drilling through into a cupboard in the room above.

Using a heavy-duty core drill (with dust extraction!) to finally get to the outside.

Running a new, safe 13-amp fused spur to power the new hood.

This is a great look at the problem-solving that goes into a "simple" job. After a bit of extreme drilling and some great teamwork, we got the ducting and power all run, ready for the builder to box it in. We can't wait to come back and fit "the beauty" (the new hood) once it's all plastered!
