As we all know Aadhaar is an important identity document for every Indian citizen.
It is used for school admissions, bank accounts, government benefits, and more.
Even children are now issued Aadhaar cards at a young age.
But now there’s an important update from the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India).
What's the New Rule? Let me explain.
UIDAI has ordered that all children above 7 years of age must update their Aadhaar card.
This is mandatory and should be done as early as possible.
Why is an update needed ?
When children get Aadhaar before age 5, it is issued without biometric data (no fingerprints or iris scan).
Only photos and basic info are taken.
This is called Baal Aadhaar (Blue coloured card).
Before the kids above age of 5 to age 15 need to update a biometric update is required.
Now, UIDAI says children who are 7 years or older must update their Aadhaar to keep it active and valid.
How to Update Aadhaar for Kids?
Parents or guardians can visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Aadhaar update center.
You need to carry the original Aadhaar card of the child, a birth certificate or school ID, Aadhaar of the parent or guardian.
Kids should be taken along with.
The biometric and photo update is done free of cost.
In many Deaf schools and families, Aadhaar is often forgotten or not updated.
This may cause problems during exams, certificates, or getting scholarships.
Please inform parents and caregivers in the Deaf community to check and update Aadhaar for all children above 7.
