Oban Scenery & Two Seagulls

It was a hard day. (Yes, first world hard.) We bused from Nairn to Inverness and from Inverness to Fort William. No problem. We spent five hours in Fort William because of a serious accident between Fort William and our destination, Oban. Our bus did not come for us. Our complaint was that the company did nothing to communicate with us. I didn’t feel the ‘Ugly American’: our Scottish co-travelers were also pissed. So much for my entirely positive view of public transportation in Scotland.

Seven of us contracted a taxi and Joy and I made it to Oban but we would not make it to Iona today. We booked and moved into a hotel room in this touristed city. I went out for fish and chips and Joy went to sleep after a challenging day.

I ate my delicious fish (cod) and chips on the edge of the Atlantic and the many islands of Scotland.

The sun provided a show of splendor on sea and clouds. It was lovely. This short video captures both the beauty I took in and my relationship to two seagulls who approached me because I was eating fish and chips. They thought they deserved some.

We do expect to make Iona tomorrow with two ferry rides and a bus ride. We’re not sure how much access to Wi-Fi we will have. We don’t care, but I’m sure our readers… on second thought I’m sure you’ll be happy for a break.
