This is Part 1 of my Video Study of the Mauritian people. I filmed these images years ago and asked permission to film close-ups. The Indo- Mauritians are descendants of the indentured labour force shipped from India by the British colonists after slavery was abolished in 1835. Sixty percent of the Mauritian population are Indo- Mauritian.
