This final part of the three-part course, Inside BPI Certification, focuses on field testing as the last step in evaluating a product’s compostability. While field testing is not currently required for BPI Certification, it plays an important role in validating and strengthening the rigor of laboratory testing, as well as providing insights on which composting environments work best for different product types.

In this section, Emily McGill, Program Director of the Compostable Field Testing Program (CFTP), explains how different product types prefer different temperatures when undergoing the composting process.
