International Day of Charity : History, significance and celebration of the day

The International Day of Charity is observed annually on 5 September. It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012.

The prime purpose of the International Day of Charity is to raise awareness and provide a common platform for charity-related activities all over the world for individuals, charitable, philanthropic and volunteer organizations for their own purposes on the local, national, regional and international level.

This day 5th September also mark as mother teresa death anniversary.

Charity is important as it allows us to reach out into wider society, and help those that are in need of our support.

Why Do We Mark International Days?

International days are occasions to educate the public on issues of concern, to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity. The existence of international days predates the establishment of the United Nations, but the UN has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool.
