Battletech Desert Ambiance

The only thing hotter than the sun above you and the sand that shifts beneath your feet, is the burning reactor behind your seat. You feel as though you are slowly being cooked alive as it belches electricity into the myomer veins of your BattleMech and you fire off another pearlescent beam of laser fire.

At 373 Kelvin the human body is literally sous vide under the skin, the brain is boiled to a paste, and the blood splits into toasted heme and water - but the machine can continue on far beyond that point. The closer the air in your cockpit gets to that temperature, the more the world goes syrupy and violent all at once.

The sweat marches down your face and stings your eyes, and slippery palms make it harder to manage the stick. The ghosts in this desert listen and they watch your every move, buried imperceptibly beneath the sand, trapped inside their mechs; And the longer you stay here, the more you begin to hear what they have to say in return.
