Описание к видео 🏠 A single layer of concrete slabs, a home! The story of the birth of prefabricated houses.

Building houses with precast concrete slabs is a common and practical method in rural areas. Simply put, individual concrete floor slabs (precast slabs) are made beforehand. Once the walls reach the height of one story, these large slabs are lifted and placed on top of the walls, like "building blocks," forming the ceiling of the first floor and the floor of the second floor.

Here's how it's done:

Step 1: Transportation to the site
The finished precast slabs are large and heavy, requiring farm vehicles to transport them to the construction site. For the final stretch, villagers work together, using their shoulders and wooden poles to carry the slabs. This requires coordinated effort and teamwork.

Step 2: Lifting and positioning
This is the most crucial and physically demanding step! Workers use long wooden poles threaded through holes at both ends of the precast slabs. They divide into groups, lifting the slabs with their shoulders. Those below use wooden poles to support the slabs, while those above use ropes to pull them up. Carefully, they "deliver" the slabs to the top of the walls along a temporarily constructed ramp, then shift them into the correct position.

Step 3: Joining to form the floor
Once the precast slabs are placed side by side, the gaps between them are filled with concrete. They transform from individual slabs into a complete and sturdy floor. Then, construction can continue on this "floor," building the second story.

Why use this old method?
• Fast: The slabs are made in advance, and the on-site work mainly involves installation, which is much faster than pouring concrete slabs on-site.

• Economical: Suitable for self-built houses, the costs of materials and labor are relatively easy to control.

• Sturdy: Precast concrete slabs are inherently strong, and as long as they are installed correctly, the house will be very sturdy.

In short: This is like "laying the floor" for the house, except that this "floor" consists of large pre-made concrete slabs, and the entire process relies on the strength and teamwork of the villagers.
