The 1996 World Team Challenge was held at Cedarvale Lanes in Eagan, Minnesota. After qualifying the top three teams competed in a Baker-style stepladder finals.
Leading the qualifying was Ebonite Omegas from Kentucky (Mika Koivumieni, John Gaines, Chris Barnes, Bob Goike and Pat Healey Jr.).
The second qualifier was Linds Lakers from Minneapolis (Sam Lantto, John Eiss, Dave Hoppenrath, Chuck Vashaw and Todd Savoy).
The third team was New Approach Pro Shop from Illinois (George Hall, Dick Hara, Keith Garrett, Ron Nelson and Brad Snell).
The Lakers and New Approach met in the first 2-game match with the winner advanced to the finals against Ebonite Omegas.
