WCW/nWo Revenge (N64) Unused Wrestler: Wrath gameplay.

Gameplay of the unused wrestler/character THQ Man in Aki's WCW/nWo Revenge for the Nintendo 64.

Yeah, Wrath was going to be included in this game at some point, but then they just dropped him. By using an unlock-all code, he’ll dumped into the game’s ram and will be freely selectable. He has an updated moveset from World Tour, but his default attire is Wolf Pac Sting’s costume. His attire is actually in the costume change mode of the game, if memory serves, but I prefer to use characters in a default a way as I can, usually.

Unused characters in wrestling games are surprisingly common, which is probably to be expected when you're dealing with something involving licenses. From Wrath here, to Val Venis in the Royal Rumble arcade game, to Ken Shamrock and Big Show in Smackdown 2, and even when we get to the Smackdown vs. Raw series (which is a rabbit hole in itself), unplayables are a big part of old wrestling games, and they add an extra dimension to games we already love. As for why Wrath was left out of this game, I believe it's something to do with the injury he sustained in 1998, though I'm not entirely sure. Wrath is yet another wrestler who's career was derailed by the cesspool of egotism that is Kevin Nash, who defeated him in late '98 and destroyed all the momentum he had built up for himself. Which is appropriate, as it was speculated that Wrath was supposed to eventually end up feuding with Goldberg. I know Nash wasn't the only factor for WCW's demise, but sometimes I feel he had a really big part in it, especially when you factor in stuff like the Finger Poke of Doom as well.

So, the first of a number of interesting unused characters we'll see across a number of games. Up next however, we'll be looking at a number of unplayable managers in this game.
