I often see the question asked “how to remove broken exhaust studs or broken bolts” and save the threads. In my experience, this technique will work on any broken or stripped bolt or stud, not just exhaust. If you don’t have a welder and are using an easy out, the quench technique along with tapping the stud or bolt with a hammer will also greatly improve your chances of success. I just wanted to share how I do it, and it has never let me down. The specific technique I use does require a TIG welder, but I have confirmed you can use this method with flux core or wire feed. The only welder I have is a TIG, so I have never tried other welding disciplines, for the same results. I hope it helps.
