Why is it almost impossible to ban weapons in the US?
The number of deadly mass shootings in the USA is way too high. We have all been shocked by the mass shooting in Las Vegas on October 1, 2017. And still, a weapon ban is not a discussion anymore after Donald Trump was elected.
When we talk to people outside the US, they often ask "Why are you not banning weapons in the US?" And the answer is usually a little surprising for US citizens. But the question is and remains legitimate and the answer is a little more complex than most people (even inside the US) would guess!
We are explaining the origin of the Second Amendment was adopted in the constitution of the US and the importance for many US-citizens. But also, the political system behind such important decisions is explained. Who is actually responsible for the final law decisions in the USA? That lobbyists and the NRA have a huge power within politics is no secret, but where does the money and their power come from?
The second part of the video is especially about the mass shooting in Las Vegas. Why were so many innocent people been killed or hurt? How could a cheap modification like a “bump stock” turn a semi-automatic weapon into a weapon with a fire rate comparable to a fully automatic weapon? And will the senate this time vote in favor for a ban of such modifications?
