The Tayra (Eira barbara) is a rare and elusive mammal found in the forests of Central and South America. It belongs to the weasel family (Mustelidae), and though it resembles a weasel, it is larger, with a body length of about 60-70 cm and a bushy tail. Tayras have dark brown to black fur, with a lighter patch on their chest, and they are known for their agility in both trees and on the ground.

Tayras are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, small mammals, birds, and even insects. They are highly intelligent and adaptable animals, often using their problem-solving skills to open food containers or manipulate objects. Despite their wide range, Tayras are rarely seen due to their shy and secretive nature. They're known for their playful behavior and are sometimes referred to as "bush dogs" in local regions.
