Aranmula Vallasadhya is a ritual offering to the deity Lord Parthasarathy in which the oarsmen of the snake boats are offered a feast. With over 70 dishes it is probably one of the largest vegetarian feasts in India

This is a ritual offering to Lord Parthasarathy, the presiding deity of the Sree Parthasarathy temple, where the oarsmen of the snake boats are offered a mega feast. With a grand spread of over 60 dishes, this is the largest vegetarian feast in the world

In total, 63 varieties of dishes are served as part of the feast. There is a style and defined form in which the dishes are served and eaten. The dishes are categorized in to three main varieties and served as per the tradition.

The snake boats used for this race are called Palliyodams. The credit for the design is given to Lord Krishna himself, the chief deity at the Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy Temple. He is said to have appeared on these shores on a raft made of six bamboos, giving the village its name – Aranmula or Six Bamboos.
