The incident goes viral with 20 million views, leads to company-wide policy changes and mandatory anti-discrimination training, and results in federal civil rights charges against Derek, but Joshua and Elias still suffer lasting trauma from being called animals while passengers filmed without intervening. Despite the swift justice enabled by their principal's powerful connection, the brothers learn that excellence and doing everything right don't protect Black children from racism, and they carry permanent scars from an experience that should never have happened.
