How To Write Better Rap Choruses In 60 Seconds

Описание к видео How To Write Better Rap Choruses In 60 Seconds

1. Half Rap, Half “Melody”

Make the first half of your chorus into a rap-style chant or series of bars, and then the second half of your chorus into a melodic sing along.

Notable songs that do a version of this are: Kendrick’s “Don’t Kill My Vibe” and J. Cole’s “Power Trip”

2. Keep Each Line Under 10 Words

A simple way to “force” yourself to keep the chorus simple and memorable is to literally keep your word count down by keeping each “line” of the chorus to under 10 Words.

Think of how few words are in songs like Drake’s “God’s Plan” for example

3. Don’t Overthink The Hook

Record 3 versions of the chorus quickly just scatting or mumbling out a melody to have it on record…

And then quickly write out some very direct words keeping each line under 10 words like we mentioned in #2.

This will give you many options.
