Montesa Cota 49 trial bike repair and test drive

The story of our Montesa Cota 49 trial bike.

Our father bought it from his colleague in 1988. It was a homecoming gift for me and my 10 years old brother after his several weeks business trip. Despite of two mopeds we already had in our parents' summer cottage they gave this trial bike us to learn driving off road.

So we drove a lot in forest and woods truck road. Rocks and trails also became familiar to us. But the maintenance was almost only adding more gasoline. After five years hard driving and crashing engine with a stone we left our trial bike in old cowshed for 10 years.

In 2006 my brother saved the trial bike to a warm storage and defused it to parts. Finally after 13 years we had this summer time and drive enough to repair our bike. Our goal was to fix it but not to renovate it. Of course we used original parts as much it was possible. After several hours work we heard the same Montesa Cota 49 sound as we did 25 years ago.

The story goes on and my and my brother's sons may take a ride with this awesome trial bike. And yes - we'll keep up the maintenance in the future.
