To mark Road Safety Month–2026, the East Siang District Police, along with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Pasighat Campus, conducted extensive road safety awareness activities at various locations in Pasighat, including a key programme at Raneghat.

The month-long initiative, running from January 1 to 31, is being observed with the theme “Be a Road Safety Hero”, aiming to encourage safe and disciplined road usage. During the drive, police teams engaged directly with two-wheeler riders, drivers and pedestrians, highlighting the risks associated with rash driving, overspeeding, mobile phone use while driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

As part of the awareness campaign, riders without helmets were counselled on road safety norms, and helmets were distributed free of cost to promote safer riding practices. Visual displays and public interactions were used to effectively communicate road safety messages to commuters.

Addressing the media, DySP Ayup Boko stated that the road safety initiatives are being implemented under the guidance of SP Pankaj Lamba, IPS, with special attention given to areas witnessing heavy traffic movement. He also lauded the participation of RRU Pasighat students, noting that their involvement added strength to the outreach efforts.

The East Siang District Police urged citizens to remain vigilant on the roads and follow traffic regulations at all times, stressing that collective responsibility and awareness are key to preventing road accidents and ensuring safer roads for all.
