Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at CURT's in-bed wiring harness on our 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. If you're hauling a fifth wheel or a gooseneck trailer and you don't want to, or you're sick of draping your wiring over the bed and hooking up back by your hitch, then you can always leave it in the bed by getting a kit like this. It's gonna save your tailgate paint and just be a lot nicer looking and leave your wiring a little bit more protected when you're going down the road. This kit will come with everything you need, seven feet of wiring to go down to the bottom where our other wiring harness on our bumper is, the plug in line and it's gonna give us the plug up top here, which gives us our 7-pole hookup, as well as our 4-pole hookup.

We had a factory knockout panel here, so this just snapped right into place over it and made for a very quick and easy install process. It didn't have any modifications required. And on the Silverado especially, I think it's important to get that in-bed wiring harness because if you drape your wiring over the tailgate here, the tailgate does protrude a bit right here when you go to hook up to your plug at the bottom. So, this part in particular is gonna get a lot of wear and tear. It's gonna scrape the paint away and it could potentially damage your wires over time.

Now, our neighbor today did already have a fifth wheel installed here, so we were just doing the install on the wiring harness, which is super straightforward and simple, but more than likely, you're probably gonna be doing it at the same time as your fifth wheel install or your gooseneck install. So, if that's not something that you want to tackle yourself, you can always use our dealer locator to find a dealer near you to help you with that install. But like us, if you're just doing that wiring harness, it's gonna be super simple. You can follow along to see how we did it. Now, we're gonna start off in the truck bed here, locating this factory knockout panel where our plug will go.

Our spray-in bedliner was sprayed over this a bit, but I just gave this a squeeze on the sides. It's pretty flexible, and that layer of bedliner just broke away. And you might find it helpful to find something like a plastic trim tool or a flathead screwdriver. And while you squeeze, just poke in on the side here. There's gonna be some clips you can release and once you get one side undone, it's pretty easy to go in there and unclip the other.

(parts clank) Now, that metal clip actually just popped out for us. Because of the angle here, it was just giving me some trouble. Luckily we're not reusing this piece, so if that does fall off, no worries. Now we can take our wiring harness and feed it through from the top down. Take this shorter end and feed that through first. It's gonna be the easiest way to get it to fit. So just pass that through the bottom and then the other end of the plug through the bottom like that and you can start to feed it down through to the bottom. (parts clank) Now before we go all the way down, I am just gonna go ahead and plug in the harness up here, lining up these tabs, pushing until I get a firm click. That way, I don't pull the whole thing down through whenever I'm routing things on the bottom. (parts clank) You can take the wiring that we fed down, find a nice clean path to route it over to the 7-pole back by our hitch here. And we're just gonna tee into that factory harness, plugging in those two ends in line and making sure there's a good place for all this excess wiring to be routed up and away from any hot or moving parts. We passed the wiring harness directly over our frame rail here through this very small gap. It's not a good fit, but it does fit and that's gonna keep things nice and high for us. But from there, we're gonna look just over to the side where we've got our 7-pole over on our bumper. I'm gonna pop this gray retaining clip out. It's a little bit tricky, but again, trim tool or a screwdriver will help you out there. And then press in and pull out on that tab. And this will just plug in line with our wiring harness we installed. The long end of our harness will plug into what we just pulled out. Push it together until it clicks and push that locki
