➡In this video, we will discuss -

✅ Is Honey Good for Diabetes?
✅ Does honey increase blood sugar?
✅ Does honey have any effect on HbA1c levels?
✅ What is the best alternative to honey and white sugar?

Those with diabetes eat very little, yet their blood sugar does not increase, and those without diabetes eat a lot, yet their blood sugar does not increase. So, the most fundamental rule of blood sugar level management or diabetes reversal is to eat food that does not raise blood sugar levels. And how do we know which food will increase blood sugar by how much?

So, we can determine this from the food's glycemic load (EGL) value. Every food contains some amount of glucose, and when consumed, it raises our blood sugar levels by reaching our bodies. Therefore, the EGL value is very important if you want to manage your blood sugar.

So, if we talk about sugar, the white sugar is called Sucrose, which comprises 50% glucose and 50% fructose. Glucose has a glycemic index of 100, while fructose has a glycemic load of around 30. Therefore, based on this calculation, the EGL of white sugar is approximately 65. Now, considering honey, its EGL is approximately 50.

So, if we compare honey to sugar, honey would seemingly raise blood sugar levels less. However, upon closer study, we find that when we consume glucose, we measure glucose in the blood, and when we consume fructose, we should measure fructose in the blood. But our body only measures glucose, not fructose. Therefore, it won't be evident how much fructose is increasing. Moreover, honey contains more fructose, so it wouldn't show a significant impact on blood sugar levels because fructose isn't measured in the blood

The fructose that we consume cannot be used by our body's cells; it can only be processed by the liver. So, when we consume honey, its fructose goes to the liver, where it gets converted into glucose. Additionally, the liver converts fructose into LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. Therefore, if we consume honey, while our blood sugar may not increase significantly, our triglyceride and cholesterol levels are likely to rise

There are also other scientific studies indicating that glucose sticks to proteins. But fructose sticks to proteins 7 times faster than glucose and damages them more quickly. So, fructose is more dangerous than glucose. It can cause more harm to the liver or other parts of the body. Studies are showing that regular consumption of honey increases HbA1c levels. Additionally, research indicates that fructose consumption also increases LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.

So, if you want to sweeten green tea, you cannot use either sugar or honey. And if we talk about If there is maltodextrin or dextrose in artificial sweeteners, which you can find in the ingredient list, you should avoid using them because maltodextrin has a glycemic load of 130, and dextrose has a glycemic load of 100. However, you can use Diabexy's sugar drops because its glycemic load is very low.
