Today I’m looking at the extremely innovative Sandisk iXpand drive Flash Drive for iOS Devices. The problem with iOS devices has always been transferring pictures and videos to other devices. Sure, you could always use iTunes to connect to a PC or Mac or Airdrop to another Apple device. Backing up your device also involved either iTunes or iCloud. Sandisk aims to solve both those issues with the iXpand flash drive. The little Sandisk is a dual-use flash drive that works with both iOS devices and with regular computers. So it will work with iPhones, iPads and ipods, and also with Macs and Windows PCs. In fact, I tested it with an iPhone 6s, iPhone 5S and even an iPad Mini 4 and it worked perfectly with all these devices. The drive is currently available in three storage sizes, 32, 64 and 128GB. I’ll leave links to all the sizes below. On the outside, the iXpand drive is about the size of an average flash drive. It measures in at 2.25 inches in length by about half an inch in width and has this flexible curved body design with a connector at each end. On one end it has a full size USB connector to connect it to Macs and PCs, while at the other end it has a lightning connector to connect it to iOS devices. The lightning connector plugs directly into iOS devices, while the unique flexible curved design allows the USB connector to wrap around the back of the device. And the different thicknesses of the devices don’t seem to bother it, as the flexible design provides enough clearance. To use the drive with iOS devices, you’ll need the Sandisk iXpand drive app, which Sandisk provides for free on the App store. Once you install the app, plug the drive into your device and it’s automatically recognized and the app opens up. The App’s interface mainly allows you to View files on the Drive, Copy files to and from the Drive and Backup the Device to the Drive. And what I did find was that this was a fast way to back up your device and transfer photos and videos to a new device. Transferring photos and videos to and from the drive also worked flawlessly. You can even take photos and store them directly on the drive. I then tested it by plugging it into a Mac and PC. On both the Mac and PC the iXpand drive worked like just any other Flash Drive and you could quickly access the pictures, music and videos you transferred from your iOS device. The only small downside with the iXpand flash drive is that it currently only let’s you transfer Photos, Audio and Video. It doesn’t let you transfer things like PDF documents. But frankly having the ability to transfer photos and videos are really what most people will need.

So my overall thoughts about the iXpand flash drive? I really think the iXpand flash drive is an amazing product. For years, several manufacturers have struggled to build a decent flash drive for iOS devices. And most products were glitchy and sometimes just didn’t work very well. The iXpand drive is a plug and play device that just works flawlessly. It makes backing up your device very easy, so you don’t lose your files in case you lose or damage your iphone or iPad. And it also makes transferring files from your computer to your iOS device, really simple. And if you don’t have much storage space left on your phone, you can always move some of your older photos and videos to the iXpandrive and free up some space. It’s definitely a product that’s worth the money and certainly something I recommend. I’ll leave a link to the iXpandrive below, in case you’re looking to buy one. Hope this video was useful.
