Leif Asp – Production Area of Advance Seminar Series (autumn 2020) – Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden

Presenter: Leif Asp, Professor in Lightweight composite materials and structures at Department of Industrial and Materials Science.

The composites research focuses on three areas; efficient design methods (automotive/aircraft), Crash modelling and Mulitfunctional composites (automotive/aircraft). Leif explains what composites are, different fibre architectures, fibre orientation, applications, manufacturing and the sustainability perspective (e.g. lightweight constructions).

He also presents the facilities in the Composites lab, equipment such as press forming and vacuum infusion, owen, glove box and more.
