"A journey on international vintage glamour. Starting with Shanghai in the 1930s, segueing into Paris into the 1920s flapper. Then we are going to go to Cairo on a sort of caravan exotic journey. From there we go to Cabaret Berlin in pre-war 1930s Berlin. Then we're going to go to art deco New York. And from New York we are going to visit Hollywood and its golden age of movie queen glamour."

"I think it also helps that I have a good sense for drama. You know, I'm a little bit of a drama queen (laughs). And hence that's why so much of my clothes is so full of passion and drama.

"I just like that it's so colourful. Even though this time she had a lot of black. But I love that she uses a lot of colour. The material, the silk is beautiful. Very feminine. It flows when you walk. I love all those things."
WONG'S WANDERLUST
Designer Sue Wong put on a LA fashion week show Tuesday afternoon that took the audience on an odyssey through the world of glamour in the 1920s and 1930s.
"A journey on international vintage glamour," noted Wong. "Starting with Shanghai in the 1930s, segueing into Paris into the 1920s flapper. Then we are going to go to Cairo on a sort of caravan exotic journey. From there we go to Cabaret Berlin in pre-war 1930s Berlin. Then we're going to go to art deco New York. And from New York we are going to visit Hollywood and its golden age of movie queen glamour."
From the far-flung lands to the high drama of Hollywood, glamour was explored in a journey of classical Chinese motifs, rich colours of ruby, sapphire and carnelian. Sue Wong culled cultural elements from her own heritage to fashion garments crafted in silk charmeuse, dragons and exotic colours.
"I think it also helps that I have a good sense for drama," joked Wong. "You know, I'm a little bit of a drama queen (laughs). And hence that's why so much of my clothes is so full of passion and drama. They're very impactful, they're very visual, they're very sensual, very sexy, very feminine. And they always have a lot of style and colour and that sort of thing."
Actor Maria Conchita Alonso ('Chasing Papi') wore one of Wong's gowns to the show in support of her new collection. "I just like that it's so colourful," noted Alonso.
