A witness of some tragic moments of history, though very few people know about it. It is located near Delhi gate of capital Delhi, India. It is one of the 13 surviving gates in Delhi. It was constructed by Sher Shah Suri.

Mughal emperor Jahangir who succeeded his father Akbar to the throne, executed the two sons of Abdul Rahim Khan-I-Khana, one of the Navaratnas at this gate. Their bodies were left to rot at the gate. Aurangzeb (Emperor Shah Jahan's son) defeated his elder brother Dara Shikoh in the struggle for the throne. He beheaded Dara and displayed his head at this monument. This monument has seen the bloodshed in 1739 AD when Delhi was ransacked by Nadir Shah of Persia. Three princes of the Mughal dynasty - Bahadur Shah Zafar's sons Mirza Mughal and Mirza Khizr Sultan; and grandson Mirza Abu Bakht, were shot by a British soldier, Major William Hodson at this place on 22 September 1857 during the Indian Rebellion of 1857 (also known as the Indian Mutiny of 1857 or the First war of independence). During the riots of 1947, more bloodshed occured near this gate when several refugees were killed who were going to the camp for shelter established in Purana Qila. The rape of Nirbhaya, a medical student near this gate again brought back the memories of wicked incidents happened here.
