Jeff George is a former SVP of R&D and has worked at some of the world's leading CPG companies, including Hain Celestial, HIllshire Brands (Now a part of Tyson Foods), Campbell Soup Co. and PepsiCo.

We sat down with Jeff to ask him about the secrets of successful innovation in "not-so-big" companies - in other words, medium-sized and slightly smaller firms, or even less-mature divisions in larger companies.

In part three of our conversation, he shares how the right software can enable growth from innovation in not-so-big companies. He notes that medium-sized and less mature companies need solutions that are simpler, focusing on process and portfolio essentials. They need help to focus on the things that are most important, and provide them the data and insight to make better decisions about their portfolio. For these kinds of companies, he advises "it would be a mistake to go for a big expensive technology solution...but it would be a bigger mistake to have nothing at all."
