So the subject matter today is what to do if you skid on ice.

And the first advice I can give you is remove your foot from the accelerator, you don't want the car accelerating. And usually, what will happen is, if you take your foot off the accelerator, the car will calm down and come back into a straight line. If you have to use your brake, you don't want to be stepping completely down on the brake in one motion. Your braking should be used by pumping the brake, up and down, pumping on the brake.

That's usually the way to settle the car down and have it come back under control, in the safest possible manner. If the car skids, you want to steer the car in the direction of the skid. So if the back of your car is moving out to the right, you want to steer your car by turning the wheel to the right. That will be the way to bring the car back and straighten the car out from the skid. So remember, take your foot off the accelerator, pump the brake if you need to use the brake and if you have to steer the car, you steer the car in the direction of the skid.

If the back of that car is moving out to the right, you steer the car by turning the wheel to the right. Those are the ways to bring the car back under control, should your car skid on ice.
