Robert Preston and Lucille Ball, Loving You, from the movie musical Mame (1974)

My late mother's love of musicals inspired and nurtured my own, but of all the countless movie musicals that we watched together down through the years, this scene from Mame was probably her all-time favourite clip from any of them, yet not just for Robert Preston's wonderful performance of a lovely song, the grace and elegance of his dancing with co-star Lucille Ball, and the beautiful settings in which it was staged, but also for the skilful piano playing of the pianist featured in it. Indeed, whenever she watched or listened to this clip, Mom would never fail to remark upon how talented the pianist was. So as there did not appear to be any version of this particular clip anywhere on YouTube, I have uploaded it here as a tribute to my mother, who was, is, and always will be quite simply the best person I shall ever know. God bless you Mom, this is for you. The movie was directed by Gene Saks, produced by ABC, and released by Warner Bros in 1974.
