Night of the Horse 2011 - Great Roman Chariot Race

On Saturday April 23rd at the 66rd Annual Del Mar National Horse Show in Del Mar, California we were entertained by Karen Turvey-Marshall and Jon Wearley.

Karen Turvey-Marshall
Born into a life of horses and growing up around them, Karen and her brother, Tommie, might have gussed early on their lives would continue to revolve around their passion. Known as extreme horse trainers, the pair has travelled the world performing with their equine partners. Among the original featured performers and trainers in the mega-show, "Cavalia", Karen has also worked with Medieval Times, Arbian Nights, and the Wild West Show at Disneyworld Paris, along with hundreds of horse expos, rodeos, fairs, and clinics. Karen will bring her colorful chariot to the Del Mar Arena for an all-out, side-by-side, heart pounding chariot race.

Jon Wearley
Beginning his career as a Disney World driver in the late '80s, Jon drove trolleys, carriages, and Disney's famous 1903 callope circus wagon pulled by eight Percheron draft horses. From the manly Anheuser-Busch eight-horse Clydesdale hitch to Cinderella's romantic six white pony carriage, Jon's skills drove him to Paris, France, where he joined Disney's Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. While there, he met and worked with Tommie and Karen Turvey.
Currently working for Walt Disney Studios as a Production Coordinator, Jon still makes times to transform into the evil "Maximus Wreckamus" and race teh "Great Chariot Race" as part of the Equine Extremist show.
