Ryder Ripps is relying on the parody defense in this trademark infringement case brought by Yuga Labs. Yes, he used Yuga's trademarks. yes, he uploaded the exact Bored Ape images. But he made it clear he was making a statement and engaging in a commentary about NFTs and Yuga Labs Bored Ape Yacht Club. THis will be the battleground in court.

The good news is that the IP issues facing most NFT projects is in the spotlight. The NFT industry needs to up its IP (trademark and copyright) game. This lawsuit will shorten the timeline of true IP creation, protection and enforcement.
