She goes to your house for homework help when she learns that you might be starting to let herself go. she soon discovers that you have become careless when it comes to you health and well being, which end up making getting you sick. since maxi feels she can no longer trust you by yourself, since you've done this before. she decides the best idea for her to help you is to get someone to take care of you until you get better, or until she can trust you again. who's better at taking care of alex than maxi. plus maxi doesn't trust alex with anyone else care so it's got to work.
