Melross & Willows Estate Wedding Venue is the perfect place to get hitched; it has everything from picturesque landscapes to a barn-style party palace. There are two beautiful houses, a cottage for all your family's getting ready needs and mobile reception is incredible. It really is the ultimate country wedding destination!
I was performing Hybrid Coverage for Rivka & Jesse, and I got an early start to capture the venue in the best light. Low fog covered Kangaroo valley for most of the morning, and I caught a breathtaking sunrise on my way into the valley from the coastal side. I also crashed my drone into the only two powerlines from miles, which had me climbing down a cliff face to retrieve it; talk about the perfect start to the day.
After a few cuts and grazes and some spare propellers, I was back in action. I made my way to Melross Farm to meet the friendly horses and cattle roaming the 270 acres of beautiful Kangaroo Valley.
Jesse and his band of legendary cameramen got ready in the Millet House, a beautifully furnished two-story building. We used the pool in the middle of winter and a large lawn where the boys kicked a footy for a bit of exercise before they started getting ready.
Rivka and her lovely ladies got ready in the Rye House, a single-story cosy building between trees and gardens. The girls enjoyed the fireplace as they took turns getting their hair done by Shelley Graham and makeup done by Jessica Marshall. The mum’s makeup was done by The One Artistry.
Rivka & Jesse didn't want to go too formal; that's not their vibe. They just want their guests to look nice but also be comfortable.
The ceremony was placed outside The Barn On Melross, with vineyards, rolling hills and mountains as the backdrop. Jesse built a chuppah, a Jewish canopy supported by four poles Lovelingly decorated by The Late Bloomer.
Marry Us Gary led the matrimonial charge and had the guests cheering and laughing the whole way through. Gary is such an incredible human being, and I love his energy! It was my first time working with Gary, and I discovered we were both sparkies, and I may have a man crush. Rivka and Jesse played paper scissors rock during the ceremony to see who would say their vows first.
It was bridal party photo time, and we had to stick to the firm surfaces as it had been raining all week, and the paddocks were very wet and muddy. Unfortunately, the sun didn't appear during the shenanigans, but we sure did have some fun.
The Reception started as the sun was setting, which isn't ideal from a photographer's perspective. Lily Road Band smashed the tunes as the party started, and a Hava Nagila dance circle entranced the guests. There was no photo booth(thank god), and I was requested to set up a photo shoot with all of the different groups of guests. After moving some furniture and setting up the lighting, the guests grouped in the spot for the perfect shot as I amped the energy and got the people cheering.
Dinner was served by Garnish Creative Catering. I don't know if it was just that I was ravenous or because the golden baked potatoes came from heaven itself, but wow, am I easily impressed!
This was my first Jewish wedding, and I gotta say, man, that dance floor was loose, like crazy loose. Chair rides, linked elbow spinning and intricate foot clap dancing. I was in awe whilst getting amongst it. What a day, what a wedding and what a couple. Thank you, Rivka & Jesse, it was such a pleasure, and I love you guys!
