The new racecar would be in accordance with the Acura ASCC (Advanced Sports Car Concept) introduced on the 2007 North American International Auto Show. With Honda CEO Takeo Fukui challenging the developers to create the vehicle faster than its rivals, prototypes of the automobile were seen testing for the Nürburgring in June 2008. On December 17, 2008, Fukui announced throughout a speech about Honda's revised financial forecasts that, as a result of poor economic conditions, all plans for any next-generation NSX have been cancelled. In March 2010, the Acura NSX project changed name to Honda HSV-010 GT and was entered inside Japanese SuperGT Championship. The HSV-010 GT is powered using a 3.4-liter V8 sending over 500 hp (373 kW) over the sequential manual gearbox from Ricardo. The HSV-010 GT was not ever made into production as being a street-legal car.
