Hi, Matt with etrailer. And today, we're gonna be talking about the Flush Mount Kit for the Kuat Switch. Now, this is gonna be a great option that you can add later on down the road if you have some crossbars. And while the clamps are pretty easy to use, I do like them, you might run into a situation where you wanna use your T-channel if you have those on your crossbar. A situation where you might wanna do that is if you have some really bulky crossbars and the strap isn't big enough to get wrap around it, that'd be a case. Or if you just want something that is really easy to use, because the flush mount option is gonna give you that clean look too.

And everything that's gonna come with this kit is gonna be four of these mounts, they're gonna grab on or replace your existing clamps. You're gonna have four sets of hardware that's gonna include a bolt, these two washers, and this T-channel nut. And then, of course, we're gonna have an Allen key, so we can replace everything. As far as the install, there's not a whole lot to it. So let's dive into that.

So where I like to start is with this clamp. We already replaced one of them, so I'll show you how to do it for the other one too. And we're just gonna come to this bolt on the bottom here. Using this included Allen key, just gonna loosen that up some and remove it. Once you have this removed, you put your new base on.

Now, getting it out initially can be a little bit tight, you just gotta wiggle it a little bit. That'll be removed. You set that to a side. And there's actually a trick to putting this one on. It took us a little bit out to figure out how to do this.

So first, we wanna match this shape to the one on the bottom. So I'm just gonna flip that around, and then we can put it on. And this is the way the instructions say to put it in place, but if you noticed, this doesn't wanna go on. And we found the trick is to actually come over here and actually apply pressure to this, and put it over to the down position. If you're having issues with it, just try to pull that lever at the very end, and then shift it over, 'cause this base here is gonna be more wide. And then I'll try it again. And you'll notice, this is gonna go on much easier. I'm just gonna apply some pressure to the top of it. This is on, gonna line up. And we're gonna use the same bolt that we removed earlier to install our mounts. Get that tighten on. Once you have this secured down, then we can move over to the T nut. So I'm just gonna shift this over, so it's just a little bit easier to use. And the way you're gonna do this is you're gonna grab this new bolt, a split washer, a regular flat washer. And then we're gonna push it through the top of that mount till it pops through. And then we're gonna grab this nut and screw it on at the end. Now, when we do this, we don't wanna tighten it down all the way, we just wanna have just a little bit of resistance. If you tighten it down too much, that's okay, you can just loose it up later on. And now, we can test it out to see how we like it. Just line it up with our T channel, with our new middle blocks. And put it on. And to begin with, it's gonna be a little bit loose. So I'm just gonna grab my Allen key, and then I'll tighten it down the rest of the way where I want it to sit. And with it completely installed, I'm just gonna kinda see how it feels operating it. Still feels really sturdy, we're getting a really good hold. And something I really do like about these mounts is, with a clamp style, you have to worry about kind of getting in the way of your towers, or if you have any crossbars and the end of them do line up with your tower, you can't put clamps there. With this, you're gonna be able to slide this all the way down, even if the tower was gonna be in your way, since we're just sitting on top of the crossbar. And really, I think we're still getting a really nice clean look out of this. Once you're done and ready with one, you can install the other one, and it should be the exact same process.
