I ran the 2023 Barkley Fall Classic in Frozen Head State Park in east Tennessee. This was my sixth year running this race, and I have yet to finish the full distance. Each year I have progressively improved to the point of being less than 10 minutes from making the decision point cutoff, where if you choose to continue for one last section you can earn the Croix de Barque.
I went into this race quite untrained for it, but I can't resist the temptation to run it and give it all I have. I had a great spring race season, setting PRs at multiple distances, and hoped I could ride that fitness to at least the marathon finish.
