Regardless, this guide covers the General Guidelines for any Rear End (except for how to Select/Install Side Carrier Shims, and Alternate Axle Wheel Bearing Styles)

Also excepting: How to Change the Clutch Pack (the Stock Carrier is Not really sturdy enough, and I Recommend a Yukon Gear Carrier... But many other Heavy Duty Carrier Options are available)

• CASE: 2.71 & NUMERICALLY HIGHER
• Ring Gear Bolts: • 12 x 7/16"X18 LH THREADED BOLTS
• Cover Bolts: 12
• AXLE Spline Count: 31
Rear Suspension: Solid

Fix Howling, Binding, Noises etc. If the Ring gear and Pinion Gear Teeth are in good shape, you can Re-Use them. Check for Uneven Teeth Thickness (All Along Tooth on Both Ring and Pinion. Also check for Pitting or Chipping. When in doubt, take them to an Expert for Inspection)

If you ARE NOT replacing with a New or Rebuilt Carrier, Your Clutch Pack will need to be Dis-Assembled and Inspected, as well as the Half Moon Cut-Aways in the Carrier that Hold the Clutch Pack Pressure Plate Tabs (Inspect for NO Grooving in Cut-Aways)
