What this video is not: a guide to how to get rich in Anno 1800.

What this video is: a basic explanation of the top level inflow and outflow balance that combine in Anno 1800 in order to determine your empire's surplus or deficit. It's okay to have rudimentary-level questions about how your empires are meant to create profit even early in the game, and even though the game does do a lot in order to keep these matters relatively simple, it can still be challenging as a new player to the series to keep the books balanced and put yourself in a position of runaway expenses with little clue as to how to actual reap the rewards from all of your hard work.

This video merely scratches the surface, since the relationship between residents and production is, underneath, very complex, and in the long run, you do best by keeping everything properly coordinated.
