Riding a vintage Lejeune cafe racer - crit racing special order!
We restored this vintage Lejeune bike over the winter, now we get to ride it and its quite a ride! There were a number of clues that the frame was a special order, not a team bike (those were a bit different and made by Carre) but I figured it was built for Criterium racing (short distance town centre circuit racing, fast and furious racing) and it rides just like one with a short wheelbase that reacts really quickly while it still descends like a dream.
In this video the vintage Lejeune bike was let down by poorly functioning Suntour Powershifters that have now been swopped out with Simplex Retrofriction shifters - a much better period lever and transformed the riding experience.
