Forward thinking marketers are always looking to gain an edge on the competition and in social media nothing looks sharper than the stop motion artists of the six second loop! These gurus of sculpt, light, shoot, repeat are putting the fruit back on the Vine and this week we are showcasing the sweetest, juiciest and tastiest for your viewing pleasure! I’m Andrew Volpe and this is your ION Top Ten list!
I know it’s a big surprise, but we’re starting off, at number 10 and it’s Jethro Ames! Combining the real world with the surreal one, Mr. Ames has the brand messages popping with fantastic personifications of everyday products. Clicking on his loops have his 44,000 followers questioning what’s going on in their world when they’re not watching.
Continuing the countdown in the 9th spot is Vanilla Gorilla, boasting over 10 million loops for his 60,000 plus followers. Whether it’s with big time players like Darth Vader, Gumby and Rick Grimes or his own creations Bonehead and Blockhead, Vanilla Gorilla brings the funny for all brands. Honestly, I’m most impressed by his magic insta-grow beard powers.
In our 8th spot we have Khoa, a man n’ere deterred by paper cuts, his medium of choice is, you guessed it, paper! Creating jaw-dropping, paper art animations and combining them with live action subjects are just a couple of the tricks this freeze frame fabricator has up his, likely, paper sleeves. I know, I know, I couldn’t help myself.
If you thought David Copperfield was impressive you’ll want to check out our 7th place viner Tee Ken Ng. Earning over 33 million loops and known also as the Master of Illusion, Maestro Ng blends the worlds of animation, sculpture, sketch, live action and more to challenge your mind and make his followers say, “No. No Way. That did NOT just happen”
Coming in at number 6 we have Johnny McHone. This guy has taken Vine to the extreme creating a 113 part and counting long form vine-stop-motion-film called Toys vs Toys. He’s like the Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Voltron of Vine makers and brands are no doubt taking notice as it’s helped him rack up over 150,000 followers.
Kicking off the top half of our list with an impressive 220,000 followers and over 45 million loops is Kaif. His vines stretch the gamut from serenely peaceful to absolute horror and everything in between. He flawlessly integrates Super Mario and Flappy Bird into his work making him a very powerful presence on the Vineyard.
Vining finer than an aged wine, at number 4 it’s Pinot! His pen and ink style animations for Star Wars make popular scenes from the movie jump of the page, literally! And combining his mischievous sketched characters with real world objects make for hilarious and awe-inspiring results.
Taking the bronze this week and already a branded Vine Pro we have Ian Padgham. With nearly half a million followers and a hundred million loops Ian seems to have no boundaries between his art and his life, seamlessly converting currency with his phone, painting murals in seconds or stock car racing with baby strollers. I wonder if he could draw me into a new life with more money and a couple superpowers.
Our runner up this week is Meagan Cignoli. Make no mistake second place is nothing to sneeze at with nearly 250 million loops from her 700 thousand followers this director of branded vines has the power to call upon even the legendary Ron Howard to help her make magic 6 seconds at a time.
And taking the number 1 spot in an absolutely, crushing, landslide victory is the Vine Emperor himself, Zach King! Let’s face it, his royal highness is pure magic winning nearly 4 million followers and racking up a staggering billion plus loops. Brands are already fighting over the attention of this King of the influencers and that trend doesn’t look to be slowing anytime soon.
