Hello I'm Joan and this book is called The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. A few years ago I was captivated by a thriller called Long Bright River. Well Liz Moore is back. This time this story is set on the estate of the wealthy Van Laar family. They live on that estate but there's also a summer camp there and their teenage daughter Barbara is attending the summer camp. Then one day she goes missing. Now this is 16 years after her 8 year old brother known as Bear also disappeared never to be seen again. And the question has to be asked how can this possibly happen to the same family twice. This family has issues. They're emotionally distant. There's alcoholism. There’s workaholism. There's a general avoidance of things. And as the police and the community rally around trying to figure out exactly what's happened to Barbara the story of this family starts to peel away like the layers of an onion. It's beautifully written. I loved the book. I loved Long Bright River. Liz Moore can really write and I highly recommend it.
