How do you assess for blockages in the heart arteries?

Описание к видео How do you assess for blockages in the heart arteries?

In this video, I explain how cardiologists look for blockages in the heart arteries. There are 2 main groups of tests 1 - functional tests that look at the effect blockages have on the heart muscle and function and 2 - anatomical tests that look directly at the heart arteries to see if they are blocked. The common functional tests use different methods to look at the heart - ECG tracings, ultrasound, cardiac MRI and special nuclear imaging. Each of the different techniques has its own positives and negatives. The 2 main anatomical tests are CT coronary angiography (a non-invasive test) and invasive coronary angiography.
