On a cool morning, an insect flew down and crash landed in the leaves while we were walking in the forest. It appeared to be a dragonfly, maybe Common Baskettail. When I took a closer look, it was a dragonfly. The dragonfly had fallen upside down so I picked it up and watched it vibrate and warm up. When it flew away, it flew fast and graceful, just like a dragonfly should. 🙂


The Common Baskettail is a dragonfly in the Corduliidae family. The thorax is brown and hairy. Some specimens have a triangular spot at the bass of the hindwing. Individuals are difficult to distinguish from the other species in this genus. Wikipedia
