This is a song called Hold On I wrote back in the 80s. I'm doing this at a teaching pace, as if I was showing it to my band for the 1st time. Since I'm tuned down a full step the opening chord is a D6, and the 2nd would be Eflat6. This half-step interval plays out throughout the song, and I'm not sure I've seen this in many other songs, though I may just not be that aware.
Hold On words and music Donald Luther
Morning, usually the time you get up,
Something to eat with your coffee, staring down in your cup.
Then it's out the door, too many things you must do,
Every day there are more, piling up around you,
chorus
You just got to hold on, hold onto your lives. Hold onto your
children, parents, friends, lovers, husbands & wives.
Hold on to your lives, hold on till the rescue arrives.
v2
Evening and you just want to relax,
Sitting down with the paper, you drown yourself in the facts.
It hits you like a wave, this old world is a mess,
How on Earth can we save our planetary address.
chorus
We just got to hold on, hold onto our lives. Hold onto our
children, parents, friends, lovers, husbands & wives.
Hold on to our lives, hold on till the rescue arrives.
bridge
Rescue might arrive from out of the sky,
it may appear right there in your mirror.
Some alien might get you high,
some other you might see things clearer.
Whenever you feel like crying, hold every one of your loved ones nearer,
flip every coin to the shinier side, take a deep breath and wipe that tear and
chorus
Hold on to your lives, hold onto your children, parents, friends, lovers,
husbands & wives. Hold on to your lives, hold on till the rescue arrives
from out of the sky.
