Mazda Says Super Cool MX-5 Miata Special Edition Is Coming

MX-5 Program Manager Shigeki Saito said that the ND generation will be sold as long as possible.

In an interview with CarsGuide , Shigeki Saito, Miata Program Manager, revealed that the fourth-generation model isn't going anywhere:

"As long as possible we want to maintain ND, and of course we want to meet compliance with so many regulations."

When asked about a potential launch date for the next generation model, Saito gave the impression that it would not be launched any time soon:

"We don't have a specific time frame."

He explained that Mazda is in no rush to replace the current car because electrifying the roadster would make it too heavy to live up to the lightweight Miata ethos.
