The Red King and the White Queen are ancient alchemical symbols of the union of opposites and the parents of the rebus Philosopher Stone. Similar in function to the Yab-Yum iconography of the east, the concept of Ida and Pingala in the yogic systems, or the Jungian anima and animus, The Red King and the White Queen can be both internal and external qualities to be integrated into the self.

They are also the titular figures referenced in the The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz, an important Rosicrucian text in the greater context of Hermetic philosophy.

This was written as a gift for my wife, Astrid, in homage to our relationship of mutual growth and development. I believe the ideal marriage is one that alchemizes you - where you mutually challenge and inspire each other to evolve into your highest potential. If you can see each others' eudaemon, you can do amazing things for each other.
