Message: It's Not Mine
Scripture: Genesis 18:9-15
Speaker: Pastor James Teague
Date: January 4th, 2026
Using Genesis 18 and the story of Abraham and Sarah, we were reminded how easy it is to think we know God, know ourselves, and know how life should turn out, only to discover that God is inviting us into something deeper. We leaned into Sarah’s laughter and her doubt, not to shame her, but to see ourselves in her. She thought she knew what was possible. She felt her season had passed. She thought her body, her faith, and her future were done. But God asked a question that still confronts us today. Is anything too hard for the Lord?
The message pushed us to examine our belief system, not just what we say we believe, but how we actually live, decide, and trust. Faith was described as something active, something that moves, something that grows when we permit God to change our thinking. When belief is broken, decisions get reckless. But when belief is restored, faith can work again. We were reminded that God often waits until we are out of options so that he alone gets the glory. That closed doors are not punishment, but preparation. That which feels dead may simply be waiting for resurrection. And that sometimes the biggest shift in our life starts with the humble realization, “I thought I knew, but God knows better.”
This message was a call to release old thinking, rebuild our belief system, and trust God even when the promise feels impossible. When belief changes, everything changes. If you missed this message or need to hear it again, take time to watch or rewatch the sermon and let it challenge how you see God, faith, and what is possible for your life.
