Puthia temple complex with several notable old Hindu temples in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi division of Bangladesh. Located 23 km east of Rajshahi city, it has the largest number of historical temples in Bangladesh. The temples were established by Hindu zamindar rajas of Rajshahi's famous philanthropist Puthiya royal family.
Several of the temples are terracotta and their architecture resembles the Bengali style of architecture. However, other architectural styles have been mixed in it. The Puthiya palace is built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. This style combines traditional Hindu architecture with Renaissance European architecture. Puthiya temples are built around a huge lake or reservoir. There is also a green square between the temples. Raja Pitambar was the founder of the Puthia zamindar dynasty. However, the ancient ruler of this area was Laskari Khan. When Lashkari Khan became a rebel during the reign of Emperor Akbar, General Mansingh handed over the administration to Pitambar. This Puthiya dynasty had the second largest zamindari in British-Bengal. They were the richest in British-Bengal in terms of wealth. When India became independent, the then Pakistan government abolished the zamindari system and confiscated all zamindari properties. The Puthiya dynasty then migrated to India.
Govinda Mandir is the closest of the six temples of Puthia Rajbari. It is an archaeological site listed by the Directorate of Archeology of Bangladesh.

This temple is located closest to the famous Puthia Rajbari, which is 23 km from Rajshahi city. The only main entrance to this temple is at the back of the palace. Maharani's bath behind the temple. On the other side is the Rajbari, and on the opposite side of the Rajbari is the office of the Land Department at present. Inside the temple area are the remains of a building intended for the Kacharighar staff.
Infrastructure
The temple is mainly built of brick, with terracotta plaques on the outer walls. These pictures depict the story of Ramayana and Mahabharata. The square temple measures 14.47 meters per side and 18.28 meters in height. Pancharatna architectural plan has a total of five sikharas or ratnas, four at the four corners and one at the center. The peaks are small, conical in shape. There are 3 entrances on each side of the first floor
