Iron Bog Lake is a local favorite. The trailhead is only around 38 miles from Arco, Idaho and can be reached in under an hour drive. The trail is very steep during the first 1/2 mile or so, but the overall length from the trailhead to the lake is just 1.5 miles. There are also several other ponds and another lake within one mile from Iron Bog lake. Don't let the name of this lake fool you as there is nothing "boggy" about this location. It is an excellent lake for both fishing and swimming and is on the way to Muldoon canyon, which has even more interesting mountain lakes. This hike offers spectacular views of the Pioneer mountain range of the Rocky Mountains in Idaho.
