This is the 1st module of Lecture 1 from the AE4423 - Airline Planning and Optimisation course, from the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft).

In this module, we discuss the Airline Planning Framework. This is the process followed by airlines to plan, schedule and control their operations. We discuss the strategic decision (fleet planning and network development), the tactical decisions (fleet allocation, crew scheduling, aircraft rotation, maintenance checks planning), and the operational decisions (disruption management). The time horizon and the planning objective of each decision level are also discussed.
