Hello, welcome to my vlog 🤣. This was my first solo trip and first time vlogging in public. Before this trip, I was nervous about looking like an idiot in public and eating in restaurants alone. Not to mention potentially dying (sorry I am dramatic aha). I was worried that things would go wrong and they did—but I learned that I am more than capable in finding solutions. Strangely, I didn’t feel any of those anxious thoughts during the trip and realize that I am quite reliable. This trip taught me that I can trust myself and made me appreciate the beauty of human relationships. This might be strange but when I was alone, I felt myself watching my surroundings and quietly observing. There was a moment on the third day where I felt grateful to be alive. I was walking to the bookstore in Edinbrugh’s fairytale like surroundings, listening to a cozy playlist while people watching. I walked past a basketball court and saw a father and his son playing together. In front of me, there were two old men talking and laughing as if they had been friends for a lifetime. I walked past a cafe and through its windows I saw a little boy, flipping through a tattered book while marking its pages up. Maybe it was the cold air or the nostalgic music ringing through my ears. Pehaps it was the charming city of edinburgh but at that moment—I realized that every person that walked by me will or already have gone through a lifetime of experiences. From infant, childhood, teens, adulthood, old age and eventually death. Life is quite short and it’s easy to get caught up in its busyness, but it’s important to be present and appreciate every moment. I don’t know if I am effectively articulating how I felt during that moment but this was a memorable trip. Hope you were able to experience Edinburgh with me through this vlog!
