China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has voiced the government’s ’stong opposition’ to a recent US ban on China Telecom.

The US Federal Communication Commission decided to revoke the license of China Telecom’s American subsidiary last week on national security grounds and instructed China Telecom Americas to discontinue related services within 60 days.

The Ministry said Wednesday China Telecom has been operating in the US for 20 years, complying with local laws and regulations and that the ban was based on speculation and suspicion.It said it will continue to take all necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
